Smoothie Of The Month: Philosopher’s Tonic

The following smoothie recipe is one of my favorites. I drink it in the morning at least 5 times a week. Everyone has their health issues and conditions. I share this smoothie recipe only as an example of something I do not that you ought to do. So now that my general disclaimer is out of the way let’s get to it. I call this one the Philosopher’s Tonic! I drink this in the morning and can easily go at least 3 hours without eating again. If I don’t workout that morning I can go even a bit longer. I did not create this for the purposes of meal replacement…it just happen to work out that way! Use organic for every ingredient if possible. Here it is:

-2 Bananas

-A pinch or two of tumeric

-2 handfuls of dry uncooked rolled oats

-1 or 2 handfuls of raw unsalted nuts (type of nut depends on your budget and tastes…point is to get good protein)

-1 tablespoon of peanut butter (creamy no salt)

– Alkaline water (fill smoothie container 2/3 of the way…my smoothie cup is 16 oz.)

-1 teaspoon of coconut oil

-3 ice cubes

Then blend it all together! I have a powerful smoothie machine for this.

I like my smoothies thick and somewhat warm or room temperature. If you want it colder and/or thinner just add more water. For those of you who have a sweet-tooth you can add 1 or 2 dates or some raisins. Give this one a try and let me know what you think!
